Words of the Śloka
Index · Word sets · Lesson 116: Three Ślokas
These pages are the words that return in the ślokas on the philosophy shelf: the भगवद्गीता, the अष्टावक्रगीता, and the विज्ञानभैरव. A सांख्यकारिका uses the same pieces. The list is a lookup, not a new set of endings.
A verse writes the words joined. Lessons 101 through 103 open the join. Lesson 104: From the End reads a compound from its last member. Then look the member up here, in its subject form. Put an ending you already know on it. The “Like” column names that lesson word.
| Page | The set |
|---|---|
| Short words | हि, तु, त्वा, क्व, चेत्, and the words from lesson 30 that a verse still uses. |
| The person | Self, mind, body, breath, and the three strands. |
| The path | Duty, yoga, knowledge, release, grief, and desire. |
| The world | Names, beings, and the places a verse points to. |
| The verbs | The form you meet: प्राप्नोति, उवाच, ज्ञेयम्, परित्यज्य. |
A name or a thing that appears in one line only stays on that line’s own page. These lists are the words you will meet again.
