Tarka-Saṃgraha (तर्क-संग्रह)

नित्यद्रव्यवृत्तयो विशेषास् त्वनन्ता एव nityadravyavṛttayo viśeṣās tv anantā eva

The line

The particulars reside in the eternal substances, and they are simply endless.

नेपालीमा

विशेषहरू नित्य द्रव्यमा बस्छन्, र तिनीहरू केवल अनन्त छन्।

Where it sits

78 adds that they are vyāvartaka (व्यावर्तक), what wards one off from another. The eternal substances are the atoms of the four, and ether, time, direction, the selves, and the minds. A pot has no viśeṣa (विशेष) of this kind. Its distinctions stop at a class.

Split: nitya-dravya-vṛttayaḥ (नित्य-द्रव्य-वृत्तयः) + viśeṣāḥ (विशेषाः) + tu (तु) + anantāḥ (अनन्ताः) + eva (एव)

The phrases

The common gathers. The particular keeps one eternal substance from being another, and there is no last particular.

Sanskrit in this line

Viśeṣāḥ (विशेषाः) before tu (तु) is viśeṣās (विशेषास्). A visarga before t (त्) is heard as s (स्).

Anantāḥ (अनन्ताः) before eva (एव) loses the visarga, and the two vowels stand in anantā eva (अनन्ता एव).

Say it back

Say where a viśeṣa (विशेष) resides, and whether the primer gives them a number.
