Purāṇa / Padma Purāṇa / Śiva Gītā
Śiva Gītā (शिवगीता)
A dialogue that travels with the Padma Purāṇa, and that also circulates on its own. Śiva teaches Rāma. The Padma's khaṇḍas are not stable from edition to edition, as that profile says, so this page does not freeze a khaṇḍa numeral. Rāma is the hearer. In the Rāma Gītā he is the teacher, speaking to Lakṣmaṇa. The chair is the whole difference of address, and the books are different books.
The teaching is a Śaiva non-duality spoken to the prince of Ayodhyā. Śiva as the self of the world, a vision the prince is shown, and the knowledge that remains when the vision closes. The Śiva Purāṇa of seven saṃhitās is the narrative ocean under Śiva's name. This dialogue is a single teaching inside the Padma's much larger, and much less stable, library. No śloka is supplied from memory to look like the text.
Why the prince is the student
- The Rāma of Vālmīki's poem acts. The Rāma of this dialogue sits and is taught, the way Arjuna sits.
- The shape again follows the Bhagavad Gītā: bewilderment, a teacher, a vision, a remainder of knowledge.
- The Padma's own long work, on that profile, is the guṇa-sorting of the eighteen and a Vaiṣṇava devotion. A Śaiva teaching of Rāma can live in the same printed neighborhood. The profile already warns that a khaṇḍa is not a stable address.
- The page gives no rite and no verse count.
Where it sits
Read the Īśvara Gītā when the hearers are the sages of the Kūrma, and this page when the hearer is Rāma. Read the seven kāṇḍas when the question is Vālmīki. The Padma's guṇa list stays on the eighteen, as that book's ranking, which this dialogue does not have to obey.
