Where do 10.19–10.42 sit in the talk between Arjuna and Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण)?

Answer

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) answers Arjuna's request for the splendors. He will tell the chief ones, because there is no end of the extent. He is the self seated in the heart of all beings, their beginning, middle, and end. The long list is examples under one rule, 10.41: whatever is glorious, splendid, or strong is a portion of his splendor. He ends standing, pervading the whole world with one portion.

5

Say 10.20 and the rule in 10.41. Which failure shows the list has replaced the rule?

Answer

अहम् आत्मा सर्वभूताशयस्थितः aham ātmā sarvabhūtāśayasthitaḥ, and yat yat vibhūtimat sattvam (यत् यत् विभूतिमत् सत्त्वम्) known as born of mama tejaḥ-aṃśa (मम तेजः-अंश). If a name from the list is offered as the point of the chapter, stay here. That name is a portion. The self in the heart, and the portion of splendor, are the sitting.
