Cover the answer. Read the Devanagari of the verse before you open it.
1
In 13.21, what case is kartṛtve (कर्तृत्वे) and bhoktṛtve (भोक्तृत्वे), and what question does that case answer?
Answer
Locative singular. It answers "in." prakṛtiḥ (प्रकृतिः) is the cause in doership. puruṣaḥ (पुरुषः) is the cause in the experiencing of pleasure and pain.
2
ubhau (उभौ) stands in front of api (अपि) in 13.20. What is recited, and which sandhi makes it?
Answer
ubhāv api (उभावपि). औ + अ au + a becomes āva (आव). The split is still ubhau (उभौ). You hear āva (आव), and you write the dual back with au (औ).
3
What does 13.28 say, in one sentence?
Answer
Who sees the supreme lord standing the same in all beings, not perishing among those that perish, he sees.
4
Where do 13.20–13.35 sit in the talk between Arjuna (अर्जुन) and Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण)?
Answer
Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is still speaking. Nature and the person are both beginningless, and the modifications and the guṇa (गुण)s are born of nature. Nature is the cause in the doing. The person, standing in nature, is the cause in the experiencing. Who sees the supreme lord standing the same in all beings, he sees. The chapter ends with those who know the difference of the field and the knower of the field, and the release from the nature of beings: they go to the supreme.
5
Say 13.28 back. Which word fails the sitting if the lord is a different lord in each being?
Answer
samaṃ sarveṣu bhūteṣu tiṣṭhantaṃ parameśvaram (समं सर्वेषु भूतेषु तिष्ठन्तं परमेश्वरम्), then yaḥ paśyati sa paśyati (यः पश्यति स पश्यति). samam (समम्) describes the lord, the same in all beings. If samam (समम्) comes out as a mood of the seer, stay here.
