सहयज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा पुरोवाच प्रजापतिः ।
अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वमेष वोऽस्त्विष्टकामधुक् ॥

sahayajñāḥ prajāḥ sṛṣṭvā purovāca prajāpatiḥ
anena prasaviṣyadhvam eṣa vo 'stv iṣṭakāmadhuk

śrībhagavān (श्रीभगवान्) is speaking, and inside the verse प्रजापतिः Prajāpati speaks to the creatures he has just made.

The verse

Having created creatures together with sacrifice, Prajāpati (प्रजापति) said of old: By this, bring forth; let this be your cow of wishes.

नेपालीमा

यज्ञसँगै प्राणीहरू सिर्जना गरेर प्रजापतिले पहिले भने, यसद्वारा उत्पन्न गर। यो तिम्रो इच्छा पूरा गर्ने गाई होस्।

Where it sits

yajña (यज्ञ) in 3.9 was a purpose, and here it is planted at the making of creatures. The next two verses are still his speech, the gods and the people keeping each other.

The phrases

sahayajñāḥ prajāḥ sṛṣṭvā (सहयज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा) is the first act. He created creatures, and he created them with the sacrifice already beside them. The sacrifice is not an afterthought added to a finished world.

purā uvāca prajāpatiḥ (पुरा उवाच प्रजापतिः) is the speech-act. Of old, Prajāpati said. आ + उ ā + u has made purovāca (पुरोवाच).

अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वम् एष वः अस्तु इष्टकामधुक् anena prasaviṣyadhvam eṣa vaḥ astu iṣṭakāmadhuk is what he said. By this, bring forth. Let this be your cow of wishes. eṣaḥ (एषः) before a consonant is eṣa (एष), the same pronoun rule as saḥ (सः) in 3.7. Then वः + अस्तु + इष्ट vaḥ + astu + iṣṭa is recited vo 'stv iṣṭa (वोऽस्त्विष्ट).

Sanskrit in this line

वः + अस्तु vaḥ + astu is vo 'stu (वोऽस्तु), अः + अ aḥ + a again. अस्तु + इष्ट astu + iṣṭa then joins उ + इ u + i into v (व्): vo 'stv iṣṭa (वोऽस्त्विष्ट). Three words, one recited cluster. Split them before you gloss them. The ऽ is only the dropped a (अ) of astu (अस्तु).

Say it back

Who created, what he created them with, and what he told them this sacrifice would be. If iṣṭakāmadhuk (इष्टकामधुक्) becomes "a payment," stay here. It yields what is wished, because the sacrifice is kept.
