6.22

यं लब्ध्वा चापरं लाभं मन्यते नाधिकं ततः ।
यस्मिन्स्थितो न दुःखेन गुरुणापि विचाल्यते ॥

yaṃ labdhvā cāparaṃ lābhaṃ manyate nādhikaṃ tataḥ
yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vicālyate

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is still speaking. yam (यम्) and yasmin (यस्मिन्) still point forward to the state named in 6.23.

The verse

Having gained which, he thinks no other gain greater than it, and established in which, he is not shaken even by a heavy pain.

नेपालीमा

जुन पायो भने ऊ त्योभन्दा ठूलो अर्को लाभ सोच्दैन, र जसमा अडिएको ऊ गह्रौं दुःखले पनि हल्लिँदैन।

Where it sits

The chain now has a gain no other gain beats, and a standing that heavy pain does not move. 6.23 will gather every "which" and "where" and give them the name yoga.

The phrases

yam labdhvā (यम् लब्ध्वा) is "having obtained which." aparam lābham na adhikam manyate tataḥ (अपरम् लाभम् न अधिकम् मन्यते ततः): he thinks no other gain greater than it.

yasmin sthitaḥ (यस्मिन् स्थितः) is "established in which." na duḥkhena guruṇā api vicālyate (न दुःखेन गुरुणा अपि विचाल्यते): he is not shaken even by a heavy pain.

ca aparam (च अपरम्) is cāparam (चापरम्). na adhikam (न अधिकम्) is nādhikam (नाधिकम्). sthitaḥ (स्थितः) before na (न) is sthito (स्थितो). guruṇā api (गुरुणा अपि) is guruṇāpi (गुरुणापि).

Sanskrit in this line

vicālyate (विचाल्यते) is a causative passive. cal (चल्) is "move." The causative is "make move." The passive is "is made to move." With na (न), he is not shaken. The thing that would shake him is instrumental, duḥkhena guruṇā (दुःखेन गुरुणा). guruṇā (गुरुणा) agrees with duḥkhena (दुःखेन): the pain is a heavy one. It is not a separate teacher.

Say it back

The gain, and the pain that does not move him. If adhikam (अधिकम्) loses na (न), some other gain is greater, and the verse fails.
