6.28

युञ्जन्नेवं सदात्मानं योगी विगतकल्मषः ।
सुखेन ब्रह्मसंस्पर्शमत्यन्तं सुखमश्नुते ॥

yuñjann evaṃ sadātmānaṃ yogī vigatakalmaṣaḥ
sukhena brahmasaṃsparśam atyantaṃ sukham aśnute

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is still speaking.

The verse

Yoking the self always in this way, the yogin whose stain has gone easily reaches the endless happiness that is the touch of brahman.

नेपालीमा

यसरी सधैँ आत्मालाई जोड्दै, कलङ्क गएको योगी सजिलै त्यो अनन्त सुखमा पुग्छ जो ब्रह्मको स्पर्श हो।

Where it sits

6.27 said the highest happiness comes to him. This verse says he reaches it, and names it as contact with brahman (ब्रह्मन्). The next verse turns that attainment outward, toward all beings.

The phrases

युञ्जन् एवम् सदा आत्मानम् yuñjan evam sadā ātmānam repeats the frame of 6.15. The yogin, yoking the self always in this way. vigatakalmaṣaḥ (विगतकल्मषः) matches the akalmaṣam (अकल्मषम्) of 6.27, now in the nominative because he is the subject.

sukhena (सुखेन) says he reaches it easily. ब्रह्मसंस्पर्शम् अत्यन्तम् सुखम् brahmasaṃsparśam atyantaṃ sukham is what he reaches: the endless happiness that is the touch of brahman (ब्रह्मन्).

The sandhi yuñjannevam sadātmānam (युञ्जन्नेवम् सदात्मानम्) is the same as in 6.15. ब्रह्मसंस्पर्शम् अत्यन्तम् brahmasaṃsparśam atyantam is brahmasaṃsparśamatyantam (ब्रह्मसंस्पर्शमत्यन्तम्).

Sanskrit in this line

aśnute (अश्नुते) is the present middle of aś (अश्), a class-5 verb, "reach, attain." It is not the aś (अश्) of eating in atyaśnataḥ (अत्यश्नतः) at 6.16, though the root is the same family. Here the object is sukham (सुखम्). sukhena (सुखेन) is instrumental of manner, "with ease," not a second happiness. The happiness he reaches is the accusative.

Say it back

Who reaches, and what the happiness is the touch of. If brahmasaṃsparśam (ब्रह्मसंस्पर्शम्) drops out, it is only "endless happiness," and the verse has lost its object.
