śraddhāvān bhajate yo māṃ sa me yuktatamo mataḥ

The verse

Of all yogins, he who honors me with faith, his inner self gone to me, is held by me to be the most yoked.

नेपालीमा

सबै योगीहरूमध्ये, जसले श्रद्धाले मलाई मान्छ, जसको भित्री आत्मा ममा गएको छ, त्यसलाई म सबैभन्दा युक्त ठान्छु।

Where it sits

6.46 said be a yogin. This verse says the most yoked of them is the one whose inner self has gone to Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) and who honors him with faith. The training of the mind ends turned toward him. Chapter 7 will ask what he is, that this honor is given to him.

The phrases

योगिनाम् अपि सर्वेषाम् yoginām api sarveṣām sets the group. Of all yogins. The genitive is "among."

यः मद्गतेन अन्तरात्मना श्रद्धावान् माम् भजते yaḥ madgatena antarātmanā śraddhāvān māṃ bhajate is the one inside that group. Who, with the inner self gone to me, and with faith, honors me. saḥ me yuktatamaḥ mataḥ (सः मे युक्ततमः मतः): he is held by me to be the most yoked.

madgatena antarātmanā (मद्गतेन अन्तरात्मना) is madgatenāntarātmanā (मद्गतेनान्तरात्मना). yaḥ mām (यः माम्) is yo mām (यो माम्). yuktatamaḥ mataḥ (युक्ततमः मतः) is yuktatamo mataḥ (युक्ततमो मतः).

Sanskrit in this line

yuktatamaḥ (युक्ततमः) is the superlative. 6.42 had the comparative --tara (तर), "harder." --tama (तम) is "most." Among the genitive group yoginām sarveṣām (योगिनाम् सर्वेषाम्), he is the most yoked. mat- (मत्-) is the same combining form as in maccittaḥ (मच्चित्तः) at 6.14. madgatena (मद्गतेन) is "with the self gone to me." śraddhāvān (श्रद्धावान्) brings back the faith of the man who fell in 6.37. Faith was never the thing that failed him.

Say it back

Among whom, and who is the most yoked. If yuktatamaḥ (युक्ततमः) comes out as only yuktaḥ (युक्तः), the superlative is gone and every yogin is the answer.
