Where it sits

sukhaduḥkhayoḥ (सुखदुःखयोः) from 10.1.1 is still the pair. 10.1.3 says how those two arise.

Split: saṃśaya-nirṇaya-antara-abhāvaḥ (संशय-निर्णय-अन्तर-अभावः) + ca (च) + jñāna-antaratve (ज्ञान-अन्तरत्वे) + hetuḥ (हेतुः)

hetuḥ (हेतुः)nominative singular, masculinea reason

The phrases

The subject is the absence of a gap. Doubt is followed by decision, and the line says nothing else sits between those two.

The locative says where that reason applies. Pleasure and pain, the pair from 10.1.1, are other than a knowing. A knowing has the shape 'doubt, then decision.' The line sets pleasure and pain outside that shape.

Sanskrit in this line

saṃśayanirṇayāntarābhāvaḥ (संशयनिर्णयान्तराभावः) is one compound, read from abhāva (अभाव). nirṇaya (निर्णय) + antara (अन्तर) is nirṇayāntara (निर्णयान्तर), and antara (अन्तर) + abhāva (अभाव) is antarābhāva (अन्तराभाव), both by a (अ) + a (अ) = ā (आ). The file joins ca (च) as abhāvaśca (अभावश्च). Before c (च्), visarga is ś (श्).
