2.61
तानि सर्वाणि संयम्य युक्त आसीत मत्परः ।
वशे हि यस्येन्द्रियाणि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता ॥
tāni sarvāṇi saṃyamya yukta āsīta matparaḥ
vaśe hi yasyendriyāṇi tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā
Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is speaking.
The verse
Having restrained all those, he should sit yoked, holding me as the highest; his insight stands firm whose senses are in his control.
नेपालीमा
ती सबै रोकेर ऊ मलाई सर्वोच्च मानेर जोडिएर बस्नुपर्छ। जसका इन्द्रिय उसको वशमा छन्, उसको प्रज्ञा दृढ उभिन्छ।
Where it sits
The portrait becomes an instruction, and matparaḥ (मत्परः) aims the steady man at Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) for the first time in this stretch. Sitting was one of Arjuna's (अर्जुन) three questions, and the answer is: yoked, with me as the highest, senses in hand.

The phrases
tāni sarvāṇi saṃyamya (तानि सर्वाणि संयम्य) is the gerund. Having restrained all those. tāni (तानि) points at the senses that were carrying the mind off. The restraining is finished before the sitting.
yuktaḥ āsīta matparaḥ (युक्तः आसीत मत्परः) is the seat Arjuna (अर्जुन) asked about in 2.54. He should sit yoked, with me as the highest. The optative āsīta (आसीत) is the same mood as his question, now answered as "he should." युक्तः + आसीत yuktaḥ + āsīta is printed yukta āsīta (युक्त आसीत). Both vowels are heard. yuktāsīta (युक्तासीत) would cost the quarter a syllable.
vaśe hi yasya indriyāṇi (वशे हि यस्य इन्द्रियाणि) is the condition on the refrain. Whose senses are in his control. यस्य + इन्द्रियाणि yasya + indriyāṇi is yasyendriyāṇi (यस्येन्द्रियाणि): अ + इ a + i becomes e (ए). The senses are nominative. vaśe (वशे) is the place they stand, the locative.
tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā (तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता) closes it, for the third time.
Sanskrit in this line
mat (मत्) is the stem of "I" used inside a compound. It is not a verb and not a genitive you can decline further. mat-paraḥ (मत्-परः) means "he whose highest is me," a bahuvrīhi (बहुव्रीहि). Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is the "me." The same optative Arjuna (अर्जुन) used to ask किम् आसीत kim āsīta, "how would he sit," comes back as the answer's mood: āsīta (आसीत), "he should sit."
Say it back
What he restrains, how he sits, and who is the highest. If mat (मत्) comes out as "the mind," stay here.
