The verse

The yogin who yokes the self always in this way, his mind held, reaches the peace whose highest is the quenching and which rests in me.

नेपालीमा

यसरी सधैँ आत्मालाई जोड्ने, मन समातेको योगी निर्वाण नै परम भएको र ममा अडिएको त्यो शान्तिमा पुग्छ।

Where it sits

6.14 told him to sit. This verse says what that sitting comes to. The peace is not a private blank. It rests in him, and its highest point is the going out of the fire.

The phrases

युञ्जन् एवम् सदा आत्मानम् yuñjan evam sadā ātmānam is the practice kept up: yoking the self always, in the way just taught. yogī niyatamānasaḥ (योगी नियतमानसः) is the subject, the yogin whose mind is held.

śāntim (शान्तिम्) is what he reaches. Two adjectives tell which peace. nirvāṇaparamām (निर्वाणपरमाम्): its highest point is the quenching, the fire gone out. matsaṃsthām (मत्संस्थाम्): it rests in me.

युञ्जन् एवम् yuñjan evam is yuñjannevam (युञ्जन्नेवम्). sadā ātmānam (सदा आत्मानम्) is sadātmānam (सदात्मानम्).

Sanskrit in this line

yuñjan (युञ्जन्) is a present participle beside a real finite verb, adhigacchati (अधिगच्छति). Read the participle as "while" or "by." He reaches peace while yoking the self. The participle is not a second main event. nirvāṇa (निर्वाण) here is the quenching named by the verb nir-vā (निर्वा), the blowing out. The compound says the peace has that as its parama (परम), its highest.

Say it back

What he does always, and the peace he reaches. If matsaṃsthām (मत्संस्थाम्) is left off, the peace has no place to rest.
