6.24

सङ्कल्पप्रभवान्कामांस्त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषतः ।
मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्ततः ॥

saṅkalpaprabhavān kāmāṃs tyaktvā sarvān aśeṣataḥ
manasaivendriyagrāmaṃ viniyamya samantataḥ

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is still speaking. The finite verb is uparamet (उपरमेत्) in 6.25.

The verse

Having abandoned without remainder all desires born of resolve, and having held the host of the senses in from every side by the mind itself.

नेपालीमा

ऊ संकल्पबाट जन्मेका सबै इच्छा बाँकी नराखी छोड्छ, र मन आफैंले इन्द्रियहरूको समूहलाई चारैतिरबाट भित्र समात्छ।

Where it sits

6.23 said yoga is to be practiced. These two gerunds are the first moves of that practice. Desire born of resolve goes. The senses are drawn in. The mind's own settling is the next verse.

The phrases

सङ्कल्पप्रभवान् कामान् त्यक्त्वा सर्वान् अशेषतः saṅkalpaprabhavān kāmān tyaktvā sarvān aśeṣataḥ is the first gerund. Having abandoned every desire that is born of resolve, with none left.

manasā eva indriyagrāmam viniyamya samantataḥ (मनसा एव इन्द्रियग्रामम् विनियम्य समन्ततः) is the second. Having held the host of the senses in, from every side, by the mind itself. Both gerunds wait for the man of 6.25.

kāmān tyaktvā (कामान् त्यक्त्वा) is recited kāmāṃs tyaktvā (कामांस्त्यक्त्वा). सर्वान् अशेषतः sarvān aśeṣataḥ is sarvānaśeṣataḥ (सर्वानशेषतः). manasā eva indriya (मनसा एव इन्द्रिय) is manasaivendriya (मनसैवेन्द्रिय).

Sanskrit in this line

A final n (न्) of the accusative plural, before a voiceless t (त्), becomes ṃs (ंस्). kāmān tyaktvā (कामान् त्यक्त्वा) is recited kāmāṃs tyaktvā (कामांस्त्यक्त्वा). The n (न्) does not simply vanish. It leaves anusvāra and s (स्). sarvān (सर्वान्) meets a vowel, so it stays sarvān (सर्वान्) and the a (अ) of aśeṣataḥ (अशेषतः) joins it: sarvānaśeṣataḥ (सर्वानशेषतः).

Say it back

What he abandons, and what he holds in. If saṅkalpaprabhavān (सङ्कल्पप्रभवान्) is skipped, every desire is abandoned, including the ones the verse did not name.
