athavā yoginām eva kule bhavati dhīmatām

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is still speaking.

The verse

Or he comes to be in a family of wise yogins, and a birth of this kind is harder to obtain in the world.

नेपालीमा

अथवा ऊ ज्ञानी योगीहरूको कुलमा जन्मिन्छ। यस्तो जन्म संसारमा पाउन झनै गाह्रो छ।

Where it sits

Two births, and the second is the rarer. Either way the fallen man is born where the practice can start again. 6.43 says what he finds there that he already had.

The phrases

athavā (अथवा) offers the other birth. योगिनाम् एव कुले धीमताम् भवति yoginām eva kule dhīmatām bhavati: he comes to be in a family of wise yogins.

एतत् हि दुर्लभतरम् लोके जन्म यत् ईदृशम् etat hi durlabhataram loke janma yat īdṛśam judges that birth. A birth of this kind is harder to obtain in the world. "This kind" is the yogins' house, set beside the prosperous house of 6.41.

etat hi (एतत् हि) is etaddhi (एतद्धि). यत् ईदृशम् yat īdṛśam is yadīdṛśam (यदीदृशम्).

Sanskrit in this line

--tara (तर) is the comparative suffix. durlabha (दुर्लभ) is "hard to obtain." durlabhataram (दुर्लभतरम्) is "harder to obtain." It agrees with janma (जन्म). etat hi (एतत् हि) is recited etaddhi (एतद्धि): final t (त्) before h (ह्) becomes d (द्), and the h (ह्) keeps a ध्-like hold, written द्ध ddh. yat (यत्) before the vowel of īdṛśam (ईदृशम्) is yad (यद्).

Say it back

The other family, and which birth is harder. If athavā (अथवा) is missed, the yogins' house replaces the first birth instead of standing beside it.
