श्रीभगवान् उवाच
मय्यासक्तमनाः पार्थ योगं युञ्जन्मदाश्रयः ।
असंशयं समग्रं मां यथा ज्ञास्यसि तच्छृणु ॥

śrībhagavān uvāca
mayyāsaktamanāḥ pārtha yogaṃ yuñjan madāśrayaḥ
asaṃśayaṃ samagraṃ māṃ yathā jñāsyasi tac chṛṇu

Śrībhagavān (श्रीभगवान्), Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण), is speaking to Arjuna (अर्जुन). uvāca (उवाच) is "he said," and it stands outside the meter.

The verse

Śrībhagavān (श्रीभगवान्) said: Hear this, Pārtha (पार्थ), how you will know me whole and with no doubt left, your mind fastened on me, practicing the yoking, with me as your refuge.

Where it sits

The talk has been about yoga, the yoking. Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) does not wait for a new question. He offers a knowing of himself that is whole, and he tells Arjuna (अर्जुन) to hear it.

The phrases

mayi āsakta-manāḥ (मयि आसक्त-मनाः) is the person who will know. The mind is fastened on him. इ + आ i + ā has already joined the words in the recited line: mayyāsaktamanāḥ (मय्यासक्तमनाः).

योगम् युञ्जन् मत्-आश्रयः yogam yuñjan mat-āśrayaḥ is the same person, twice more. He is practicing the yoking, and his refuge is Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण). All three nominatives agree with the "you" inside jñāsyasi (ज्ञास्यसि).

asaṃśayam samagram mām yathā jñāsyasi (असंशयम् समग्रम् माम् यथा ज्ञास्यसि) is what he will come to know: me, whole, with the doubt gone. tat śṛṇu (तत् शृणु) is the command. तत् + शृणु tat + śṛṇu is recited tac chṛṇu (तच्छृणु).

Sanskrit in this line

मयि + आसक्त mayi + āsakta is the opening of the recited word mayyāsaktamanāḥ (मय्यासक्तमनाः). i (इ) before a different vowel becomes y (य्), and the ā (आ) stays, so the join is mayyā (मय्या). The same i (इ) at the end of jñāsyasi (ज्ञास्यसि) does not change, because tat (तत्) begins with a consonant.

तत् + शृणु tat + śṛṇu is the other join. t (त्) before ś (श्) becomes c (च्), and the ś (श्) is written ch (छ्): tac chṛṇu (तच्छृणु). Two words, one cluster.

Say it back

Cover the English. Say where the mind is, what he is practicing, and what "me" he will know. If samagram (समग्रम्) comes out as "a summary," stay here.
