The verse

I will tell you this knowing, together with discernment, without a remainder. Once it is known, nothing further remains here to be known.

Where it sits

7.1 said "hear how you will know me whole." This verse names what will be told, and how far it reaches. The rest of the chapter is that telling.

The phrases

ज्ञानम् ते अहम् स-विज्ञानम् इदम् वक्ष्यामि अशेषतः jñānam te aham sa-vijñānam idam vakṣyāmi aśeṣataḥ is the promise. He will tell this knowing, and the discernment that goes with it, with nothing held back.

yat jñātvā (यत् ज्ञात्वा) is "having known which." The t (त्) of yat (यत्) before jñ (ज्ञ्) is recited as a double j (ज्): yaj jñātvā (यज्ज्ञात्वा).

न इह भूयः अन्यत् ज्ञातव्यम् अवशिष्यते na iha bhūyaḥ anyat jñātavyam avaśiṣyate is what is left after that knowing: nothing. No further thing here that still has to be known.

Sanskrit in this line

ते + अहम् te + aham is recited te 'ham (तेऽहम्). After e (ए), a following short a (अ) drops, and ऽ marks the place. The e (ए) is not changed.

भूयः + अन्यत् bhūyaḥ + anyat is the other avagraha. अः + अ aḥ + a becomes o (ओ), and the next a (अ) drops: bhūyo 'nyat (भूयोऽन्यत्). Then अन्यत् + ज्ञातव्यम् anyat + jñātavyam is recited anyaj jñātavyam (अन्यज्ज्ञातव्यम्), the same त् + ज् t + j join as in yaj jñātvā (यज्ज्ञात्वा).

Say it back

Say what he will tell, and what will not be left. If aśeṣataḥ (अशेषतः) comes out as "in brief," stay here.
