7.11

बलं बलवतां चाहं कामरागविवर्जितम् ।
धर्माविरुद्धो भूतेषु कामोऽस्मि भरतर्षभ ॥

balaṃ balavatāṃ cāhaṃ kāmarāgavivarjitam
dharmāviruddho bhūteṣu kāmo 'smi bharatarṣabha

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) is speaking, to Arjuna (अर्जुन), whom he calls Bharatarṣabha (भरतर्षभ), bull of the Bharatas.

The verse

And I am the strength of the strong, the strength desire and passion have left. In beings I am the desire that does not stand against dharma, bull of the Bharatas.

नेपालीमा

अनि म बलियाको बल हुँ, त्यो बल जसलाई इच्छा र रागले छोडेको छ। भूतहरूमा म त्यो इच्छा हुँ जुन धर्मको विरुद्धमा उभिँदैन, हे भरतहरूका वृषभ।

Where it sits

The "I am" list ends here. Strength and desire are the last two qualities, and both are limited as he claims them. 7.12 steps back from the list and sorts every state under the three strands, the guṇa (गुण).

Split: बलम् + बलवताम् + च + अहम् + काम-राग-विवर्जितम् + धर्म-अविरुद्धः + भूतेषु + कामः + अस्मि + भरत-ऋषभ

The phrases

balam balavatām ca aham kāma-rāga-vivarjitam (बलम् बलवताम् च अहम् काम-राग-विवर्जितम्) follows the pattern of 7.10. He is the strength of the strong. The adjective keeps a limit on it: this strength is the one desire and passion have left. Not every force a strong person uses.

dharma-aviruddhaḥ bhūteṣu kāmaḥ asmi (धर्म-अविरुद्धः भूतेषु कामः अस्मि) is the desire he claims. In beings, he is the desire that does not stand against dharma. The other desire is not this sentence.

Sanskrit in this line

aham (अहम्) is in this verse twice, and both times it is buried.

च + अहम् ca + aham is recited cāham (चाहम्). अ + अ a + a becomes ā (आ). The ca (च) is still "and." It is the join to 7.10.

कामः + अस्मि kāmaḥ + asmi is recited kāmo 'smi (कामोऽस्मि). अः + अ aḥ + a becomes o (ओ), and the a (अ) of asmi (अस्मि) is the avagraha. If the ऽ is ignored, the verb "I am" disappears and kāmaḥ (कामः) looks like the end of the sentence.

Say it back

Strength first, with its limit, then desire, with its limit. If aviruddhaḥ (अविरुद्धः) drops, he has said he is desire as such, and the line said the opposite of that.
