anekabāhūdaravaktranetram
paśyāmi tvāṃ sarvato 'nantarūpam
nāntaṃ na madhyaṃ na punas tavādim
paśyāmi viśveśvara viśvarūpa

Arjuna (अर्जुन) is still speaking, to Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण). Meter: triṣṭubh (त्रिष्टुभ्). Four quarters, eleven syllables each, forty-four in the verse.

The verse

I see you on every side with many arms, bellies, mouths, and eyes, of endless form; I see no end, no middle, and no beginning of you, lord of the universe, form of the universe.

नेपालीमा

म तपाईंलाई सबैतिर धेरै हात, पेट, मुख र आँखा भएको, अनन्त रूपको देख्छु। हे विश्वका स्वामी, विश्वको रूप, म तपाईंको न अन्त्य, न मध्य, न आदि देख्छु।

Where it sits

The beings of 11.15 were inside a body. This verse is the body itself, and it has no edge. The vocatives change with what he sees: lord of the universe, universal form.

The phrases

aneka-bāhu-udara-vaktra-netram paśyāmi tvām (अनेक-बाहु-उदर-वक्त्र-नेत्रम् पश्यामि त्वाम्) turns the many mouths and eyes onto him. Sañjaya (सञ्जय) said it of the form in 11.10. Arjuna (अर्जुन) says it of you.

sarvataḥ ananta-rūpam (सर्वतः अनन्त-रूपम्) is the extent. On every side, a form without end.

na antam na madhyam na punaḥ tava ādim paśyāmi (न अन्तम् न मध्यम् न पुनः तव आदिम् पश्यामि) is the failure of measure. No end, no middle, and no beginning of you. Three na (न), three nouns.

Sanskrit in this line

सर्वतः + अनन्त sarvataḥ + ananta is recited sarvato 'nanta (सर्वतोऽनन्त). aḥ (अः) plus a (अ) is o (ओ) and ऽ. न + अन्तम् na + antam is nāntam (नान्तम्): a (अ) plus a (अ) is ā (आ). The negative is still na (न). It has not become part of the noun's meaning except as "no end."

Say it back

The three things he cannot find. If any one of antam (अन्तम्), madhyam (मध्यम्), ādim (आदिम्) is missing, the na (न) was only said once.
