12.19

tulyanindāstutir maunī santuṣṭo yena kenacit
aniketaḥ sthiramatir bhaktimān me priyo naraḥ

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) continues. naraḥ (नरः) is the man the nominatives of 12.18 were describing.

The verse

The silent man for whom blame and praise are equal, content with whatever comes, homeless, of steady mind, possessing devotion — that man is dear to me.

Where it sits

12.18 set him even in the pairs and left the sentence open. This verse closes the portrait on naraḥ (नरः). One man, dear, and the list of nominatives is finished.

Sanskrit in this line

yena kena cit (येन केन चित्) is the indefinite instrumental, "by whatever," "with anything at all." yena (येन) is the relative, kena (केन) is the interrogative, and cit (चित्) takes the question out of it. santuṣṭaḥ (सन्तुष्टः) takes that instrumental: content with the thing, whatever the thing is. Do not ask which thing. The grammar refuses the question.
