अर्जुन उवाच
नष्टो मोहः स्मृतिर्लब्धा
त्वत्प्रसादान्मयाच्युत ।
स्थितोऽस्मि गतसन्देहः
करिष्ये वचनं तव ॥

arjuna uvāca
naṣṭo mohaḥ smṛtir labdhā tvatprasādān mayācyuta
sthito 'smi gatasandehaḥ kariṣye vacanaṃ tava

Arjuna (अर्जुन) is speaking, to Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण). uvāca (उवाच) is "he said." It stands outside the meter.

The verse

Arjuna (अर्जुन) said: Delusion is destroyed, and by your grace I have gained memory, O unfallen one; I stand with my doubt gone, and I shall do your word.

Where it sits

This is the answer to 1.47, where he sat down and cast the bow aside: the delusion is destroyed, he stands, he will do the word, and the bow is on him again as dhanurdharaḥ (धनुर्धरः) in 18.78.

The phrases

naṣṭo mohaḥ smṛtir labdhā tvatprasādān mayācyuta (नष्टो मोहः स्मृतिर्लब्धा त्वत्प्रसादान्मयाच्युत) answers the second question of 18.72. Delusion is destroyed. Memory is gained, by me, through your grace. mayā (मया) is the person who has gained it. The ablative is the grace it came by.

sthito 'smi gatasandehaḥ (स्थितोऽस्मि गतसन्देहः) is the stance. I stand, doubt gone. The man who sat down says he is standing.

kariṣye vacanaṃ tava (करिष्ये वचनं तव) is the act. I shall do your word. This is the answer to the whole teaching, and to the command to stand into the fight.

Sanskrit in this line

स्थितः + अस्मि sthitaḥ + asmi is recited sthito 'smi (स्थितोऽस्मि). अः + अ aḥ + a becomes o (ओ), and the a (अ) of asmi (अस्मि) is the avagraha. स्मृतिः + लब्धा smṛtiḥ + labdhā is smṛtir labdhā (स्मृतिर्लब्धा), because iḥ (इः) before the voiced l (ल्) becomes ir (इर्). kariṣye (करिष्ये) is future, first person, middle: the doing is his own.

Say it back

Cover the English. Say what is destroyed, that he stands, and what he will do. If kariṣye (करिष्ये) comes out as "I might," stay here.
