The phrases

ity ahaṃ vāsudevasya pārthasya ca mahātmanaḥ (इत्यहं वासुदेवस्य पार्थस्य च महात्मनः) sets the two speakers of the dialogue in the genitive. Of Vāsudeva (वासुदेव), and of the great-souled Pārtha (पार्थ). iti (इति) means "thus," the dialogue as it has just been heard.

saṃvādam imam aśrauṣam adbhutaṃ romaharṣaṇam (संवादमिममश्रौषमद्भुतं रोमहर्षणम्) is what he heard. This dialogue, wondrous, hair-raising. aśrauṣam (अश्रौषम्) is the one finite verb. He is answering the king who asked.

Sanskrit in this line

aśrauṣam (अश्रौषम्) is the aorist, first person singular, of śru (श्रु), "I heard." The a- (अ-) at the front is the past-time prefix. It is the same past a- (अ-) as akurvata (अकुर्वत) in 1.1, not a negative. इति + अहम् iti + aham is ity aham (इत्यहम्), because इ + अ i + a becomes ya (य).

Say it back

Cover the English. Say whose dialogue he heard, and what it did to him. If aśrauṣam (अश्रौषम्) comes out as "I will hear," stay here.
