7.3.31
Mīmāṃsā Sūtra / Adhyāya 7 / 7.3.31
न वैदिकमर्थनिर्देशात्
na vaidikam arthanirdeśāt
The line
Not vaidika (वैदिक), because of a compound: a thing, a meaning, and a statement of what the rule is.
Where it sits
In Mīmāṃsā (मीमांसा) Sūtra (सूत्र), adhyāya (अध्याय) 7. Transfer. The details of a model rite are carried to a variant rite, and where that carrying stops. The line is short. viśaye (विशये) from 7.3.30 is still in force. A sūtra (सूत्र) leaves a word out when the line before still holds it. That carrying is anuvṛtti (अनुवृत्ति).
