गुण दुवै तरिकाले नष्ट हुन्छन्।

Where it sits

na from 1.1.12 stops. badhati continues. ubhayathā (उभयथा) points at the pair kāryam (कार्यम्) and kāraṇam (कारणम्). 1.1.14 will put action on the side of the quality, opposed to its effect.

Split: ubhayathā (उभयथा) + guṇāḥ (गुणाः)

The phrases

Two words. The verb badhati carries forward from 1.1.12, and the na does not. Qualities do destroy, in both of the ways a substance does not.

A color is ended when the color it produced has arisen, and it is ended when its cause is ended. The line is the contrast, not the mechanism.

Sanskrit in this line

ubhayathā (उभयथा) is an indeclinable built from ubha, both. It does not take a case. The work of the case is done by the noun it leans on, which is still the pair in the previous line.
