The verse
Of the daityas I am Prahlāda; of those who reckon I am time; of beasts I am the lord of beasts, and of birds the son of Vinatā (विनता).
Where it sits
Prahlāda is a daitya inside the list of splendors. Time here is the chief of reckoners. The lion and the bird are the same kind of sentence. The list is not pausing to rank them.

The phrases
प्रह्लादः च अस्मि दैत्यानां कालः कलयताम् अहम् prahlādaḥ ca asmi daityānāṃ kālaḥ kalayatām aham is a daitya, then time. Of the daityas, Prahlāda. Of those who reckon, time. The verse does not stop to tell Prahlāda's story. He is the name it gives among daityas.
mṛgāṇāṃ ca mṛgendraḥ ahaṃ vainateyaḥ ca pakṣiṇām (मृगाणां च मृगेन्द्रः अहं वैनतेयः च पक्षिणाम्) crosses the usual order and still reads. Of beasts, the lord of beasts. Of birds, the son of Vinatā. The genitive pakṣiṇām (पक्षिणाम्) comes after its nominative. The case still means "of."
Sanskrit in this line
mṛga (मृग) + indraḥ (इन्द्रः) is mṛgendraḥ (मृगेन्द्रः). a (अ) + i (इ) inside the compound becomes e (ए). Then mṛgendraḥ (मृगेन्द्रः) + aham (अहम्) is mṛgendro 'ham (मृगेन्द्रोऽहम्). aḥ (अः) + a (अ) becomes o (ओ), and ऽ holds the place of the lost a (अ).
