जयोऽस्मि व्यवसायोऽस्मि सत्त्वं सत्त्ववतामहम् ॥

dyūtaṃ chalayatām asmi tejastejasvinām aham
jayo 'smi vyavasāyo 'smi sattvaṃ sattvavatām aham

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) continues. The dice-game is in the list.

The verse

Of those who cheat I am the dice-game; of the brilliant I am brilliance; I am victory; I am resolve; of those who have sattva (सत्त्व) I am sattva (सत्त्व).

Where it sits

Gambling sits beside victory and resolve. The list was never a list of only holy objects. 10.41 will say that whatever is splendid or strong is a portion. This verse is one of the places that rule has to be wide enough to cover.

The phrases

द्यूतं छलयताम् अस्मि तेजः तेजस्विनाम् अहम् dyūtaṃ chalayatām asmi tejaḥ tejasvinām aham puts the dice-game among cheats, and brilliance among the brilliant. The list does not stop to moralize the game. It is an item in the frame: of this group, this.

जयः अस्मि व्यवसायः अस्मि सत्त्वं सत्त्ववताम् अहम् jayaḥ asmi vyavasāyaḥ asmi sattvaṃ sattvavatām aham is victory, resolve, and sattva. Three predicates, two of them with asmi (अस्मि) and no genitive, and sattvam (सत्त्वम्) with its group. Resolve has no genitive in the line. He is resolve.

Sanskrit in this line

tejaḥ (तेजः) + tejasvinām (तेजस्विनाम्) is tejas tejasvinām (तेजस्तेजस्विनाम्). aḥ (अः) before the voiceless t (त्) becomes s (स्). The two words share that s (स्), and the seam is easy to miss. jayaḥ (जयः) + asmi (अस्मि) is jayo 'smi (जयोऽस्मि). vyavasāyaḥ (व्यवसायः) + asmi (अस्मि) is vyavasāyo 'smi (व्यवसायोऽस्मि). Two avagrahas in one line.

Say it back

The dice-game and its genitive, then brilliance and its genitive. If dyūtam (द्यूतम्) is dropped to keep the verse respectable, stay here. It is in the verse.
