The verse

Whatever being is glorious, or splendid, or strong, understand that each one as born of a portion of my splendor.

नेपालीमा

जुन प्राणी महिमा भएको, वा श्री भएको, वा बलवान् छ, त्यो प्रत्येकलाई मेरो विभूतिको अंशबाट जन्मेको भनेर बुझ।

Where it sits

This is the sentence the list was for. 10.19 said he would tell the chief ones, because there is no end. 10.40 said the telling was a pointing. This verse says how to hear a splendor he did not name. It is a portion of his tejas (तेजस्). The self in the heart, 10.20, is who the portion belongs to.

The phrases

यत् यत् विभूतिमत् सत्त्वं श्रीमत् ऊर्जितम् एव वा yat yat vibhūtimat sattvaṃ śrīmat ūrjitam eva vā is the rule's subject. Whatever being is glorious, or splendid, or strong. vā (वा) makes them alternatives. Any one of the three is enough. The doubling yat yat (यत् यत्) means whichever one you meet, not one famous being only.

तत् तत् एव अवगच्छ त्वं मम तेजः-अंश-सम्भवम् tat tat eva avagaccha tvaṃ mama tejaḥ-aṃśa-sambhavam is the command. Understand that very one as born of a portion of my splendor. The moon, the lion, the dice-game, the river, Arjuna, death, the letter a (अ): if it is glorious, splendid, or strong, it is a portion. One rule covers the names.

Sanskrit in this line

tejaḥ (तेजः) + aṃśa (अंश) is recited tejoṃ 'śa (तेजोंऽश). aṃśa (अंश) begins with aṃ (अं), a (अ) plus anusvāra. aḥ (अः) + a (अ) becomes o (ओ), the anusvāra stays, and ऽ marks the lost a (अ). The line has both the dot and the avagraha: tejoṃ 'śasambhavam (तेजोंऽशसम्भवम्).

yat (यत्) + yat (यत्) is yad yat (यद्यत्). t (त्) before y (य्) is voiced to d (द्). The doubling of yat (यत्) and of tat (तत्) is distributive. Each being, that very being.

Say it back

The three adjectives and the portion. vibhūtimat (विभूतिमत्), śrīmat (श्रीमत्), ūrjitam (ऊर्जितम्), and tejaḥ-aṃśa-sambhavam (तेजः-अंश-सम्भवम्). If a name from the list is offered as the point, stay here. The name is a portion. The rule is the sitting.
