Arjuna (अर्जुन) is still speaking, to Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण). Meter: triṣṭubh (त्रिष्टुभ्). Four quarters, eleven syllables each, forty-four in the verse.

The verse

I see you without beginning, middle, or end, of endless strength and endless arms, the moon and the sun your eyes, your mouth blazing fire, scorching this universe with your own brilliance.

Where it sits

11.16 said there is no end, middle, or beginning. This verse puts that into the body: the eyes are the lights of the sky, and the mouth is fire turned on the world. The distress of the worlds follows.

Sanskrit in this line

ananta-vīryam (अनन्त-वीर्यम्) is broken across the quarter: अनन्तवीर्य- / मनन्तबाहुम्. The m (म्) printed at the start of the next line is the end of vīryam (वीर्यम्), meeting the vowel of ananta (अनन्त). The second word is ananta-bāhum (अनन्त-बाहुम्), not a word mananta (मनन्त). Read the hyphen as the verse crossing the line.

Say it back

What the eyes are, and what the mouth is doing to the world. If tapantam (तपन्तम्) comes out as "lighting it gently," the scorching was softened.
