The phrases

vāyuḥ yamaḥ agniḥ varuṇaḥ śaśāṅkaḥ prajāpatiḥ tvam prapitāmahaḥ ca (वायुः यमः अग्निः वरुणः शशाङ्कः प्रजापतिः त्वम् प्रपितामहः च) sets the gods' names onto him. You are wind, Yama (यम), fire, Varuṇa (वरुण), the moon, Prajāpati (प्रजापति), and the great-grandfather.

namaḥ namaḥ te astu sahasra-kṛtvaḥ (नमः नमः ते अस्तु सहस्र-कृत्वः) is the bow counted. Homage and homage to you, a thousand times.

punaḥ ca bhūyaḥ api namaḥ namaḥ te (पुनः च भूयः अपि नमः नमः ते) does not stop at the thousand. And again, and further, homage and homage to you.

Sanskrit in this line

वायुः + यमः vāyuḥ + yamaḥ is vāyur yamaḥ (वायुर्यमः). uḥ (उः) before a voiced consonant becomes ur (उर्). यमः + अग्निः yamaḥ + agniḥ is yamo 'gniḥ (यमोऽग्निः). अग्निः + वरुणः agniḥ + varuṇaḥ is agnir varuṇaḥ (अग्निर्वरुणः): iḥ (इः) before a voiced consonant becomes ir (इर्). sahasra-kṛtvaḥ (सहस्र-कृत्वः) is an indeclinable of number. It does not agree. It says how many times the homage is offered.

Say it back

The homage, and that once is not the end. If it is a single namaḥ (नमः), sahasra-kṛtvaḥ (सहस्र-कृत्वः) and bhūyaḥ (भूयः) were both lost.
