अदृष्टपूर्वं हृषितोऽस्मि दृष्ट्वा
भयेन च प्रव्यथितं मनो मे ।
तदेव मे दर्शय देव रूपं
प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास ॥

adṛṣṭapūrvaṃ hṛṣito 'smi dṛṣṭvā
bhayena ca pravyathitaṃ mano me
tad eva me darśaya deva rūpaṃ
prasīda deveśa jagannivāsa

Arjuna (अर्जुन) is still speaking, to Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण). Meter: triṣṭubh (त्रिष्टुभ्). Four quarters, eleven syllables each, forty-four in the verse.

The verse

Having seen what was never seen before I am thrilled, and my mind is shaken with fear; show me that form, O god, be gracious, lord of gods, abode of the world.

नेपालीमा

पहिले कहिल्यै नदेखिएको देखेर म रोमाञ्चित छु, र डरले मेरो मन हल्लिएको छ। हे देव, मलाई त्यो रूप देखाउनुहोस्, कृपालु हुनुहोस्, हे देवताका स्वामी, लोकको धाम।

Where it sits

The universal form has done both things to him, thrill and fear. He does not ask for it to be untrue. He asks to be shown the form he knew. 11.46 will say which one: crown, mace, discus, four arms.

The phrases

adṛṣṭa-pūrvam hṛṣitaḥ asmi dṛṣṭvā (अदृष्ट-पूर्वम् हृषितः अस्मि दृष्ट्वा) is the thrill. Having seen what I had never seen, I am thrilled.

bhayena ca pravyathitam manaḥ me (भयेन च प्रव्यथितम् मनः मे) is the same sight's other half. And my mind is shaken with fear.

तत् एव मे दर्शय देव रूपम् प्रसीद tat eva me darśaya deva rūpam prasīda asks for the other form. Show me that very form. Be gracious. tat (तत्) points at the form he is about to describe, the one he can bear.

Sanskrit in this line

हृषितः + अस्मि hṛṣitaḥ + asmi is hṛṣito 'smi (हृषितोऽस्मि), the same joining as kālo 'smi (कालोऽस्मि). darśaya (दर्शय) is the causative imperative he used in 11.4, "show," not paśya (पश्य), "see." The seeing is already done. He needs a different showing. मनः + मे manaḥ + me is mano me (मनो मे): aḥ (अः) before m (म्) becomes o (ओ).

Say it back

The two states, thrill and fear, and the verb he uses now. If he says paśya (पश्य), he has gone back to the first request. This verb is darśaya (दर्शय).
