15.7

ममैवांशो जीवलोके
जीवभूतः सनातनः ।
मनःषष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि
प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति ॥

mamaivāṃśo jīvaloke jīvabhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ
manaḥṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi prakṛtisthāni karṣati

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) continues, and the subject changes from the abode to a portion of him.

The verse

An eternal portion of me becomes the life in the world of the living, and draws the senses, with the mind as sixth, that abide in nature.

नेपालीमा

मेरो नै सनातन अंश जीव लोकमा जीव बन्छ, र प्रकृतिमा रहेका इन्द्रियहरूलाई, मनलाई छैटौँ बनाएर, तान्छ।

Where it sits

The abode of 15.6 was where they do not return. This verse names what does live here: not a second lord, a portion of him, become the life, pulling the senses with it. The body-to-body travel is next.

The phrases

mama eva aṃśaḥ (मम एव अंशः) is the subject, pressed by eva (एव). A portion of me, just that. मम + एव mama + eva is mamaiva (ममैव), अ + ए a + e becoming ai (ऐ), and एव + अंशः eva + aṃśaḥ is evāṃśaḥ (एवांशः). The visarga before j (ज्) becomes o (ओ): aṃśo jīvaloke (अंशो जीवलोके).

jīva-loke jīva-bhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ (जीव-लोके जीव-भूतः सनातनः) says where and as what. In the world of the living, become a life, and the portion itself is eternal. The eternity belongs to the portion, not to the body it will enter.

manaḥṣaṣṭhāni indriyāṇi prakṛtisthāni karṣati (मनःषष्ठानि इन्द्रियाणि प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति) is what the portion does. It draws the senses, the group whose sixth is the mind, and those senses stand in nature. 15.9 will name the five besides the mind. षष्ठानि + इन्द्रियाणि ṣaṣṭhāni + indriyāṇi is ṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi (षष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि), अ + इ a + i becoming ī (ई).

Sanskrit in this line

manaḥ-ṣaṣṭhāni (मनः-षष्ठानि) is a bahuvrīhi (बहुव्रीहि) on the senses, not a name of the mind alone. "Sixth" counts. Five senses and the mind make six, so the compound describes indriyāṇi (इन्द्रियाणि). The visarga of manaḥ (मनः) is kept in writing before ṣ (ष्). That is the same spelling this text uses before a sibilant.

Say it back

Whose portion, and what it draws. If sanātanaḥ (सनातनः) is given to the body, stay here. The eternal word agrees with aṃśaḥ (अंशः).
