16.14

असौ मया हतः शत्रुर्हनिष्ये चापरानपि ।
ईश्वरोऽहमहं भोगी सिद्धोऽहं बलवान्सुखी ॥

asau mayā hataḥ śatrur haniṣye cāparān api
īśvaro 'ham ahaṃ bhogī siddho 'haṃ balavān sukhī

Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण) continues their speech, from the wealth they claim to the enemy and the self they claim.

The verse

"That enemy has been slain by me, and I shall slay others too; I am the lord, I am the enjoyer, I am successful, strong, and happy."

नेपालीमा

त्यो शत्रु मैले मारें, र अरूलाई पनि म मार्नेछु, म प्रभु हुँ, म भोग्ने हुँ, म सफल छु, बलियो छु र सुखी छु।

Where it sits

The "I" of 16.13 now claims the killing and the titles, lord and enjoyer and successful and strong and happy, each a nominative they put on themselves. The quotation is still open.

The phrases

असौ मया हतः शत्रुः हनिष्ये च अपरान् अपि asau mayā hataḥ śatruḥ haniṣye ca aparān api is the enemy. That one has been slain by me, and I shall slay others too. hataḥ (हतः) is done. haniṣye (हनिष्ये) is still to come. The same root, two times.

ईश्वरः अहम् अहम् भोगी सिद्धः अहम् बलवान् सुखी īśvaraḥ aham aham bhogī siddhaḥ aham balavān sukhī is the self they recite. I am the lord. I am the enjoyer. I am successful, strong, and happy. Three aham (अहम्), and none of them is Kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण).

Sanskrit in this line

ईश्वरः + अहम् īśvaraḥ + aham is recited īśvaro 'ham (ईश्वरोऽहम्), and सिद्धः + अहम् siddhaḥ + aham is siddho 'ham (सिद्धोऽहम्). अः + अ aḥ + a becomes o (ओ), and ऽ marks the lost a (अ) of aham (अहम्). The middle aham (अहम्), the one before bhogī (भोगी), has no avagraha in front of it: aham aham (अहमहम्) is simply m (म्) before a vowel. Count three "I"s, not two.

Say it back

Cover the English. Say the slain enemy and the three aham (अहम्). If one "I" is left out, the boast has been shortened.
