sataḥ param adarśanaṃ viṣayānāgamāt

Afterwards there is non-perception of a thing that exists, because the manifesting condition has not arrived.

नेपालीमा

भएको चीज पछि नदेखिनु हुन्छ, किनकि प्रकट गर्ने अवस्था आइपुगेको छैन।

Where it sits

This answers asthānāt (अस्थानात्) in 1.1.7. The word is the existing thing, sataḥ (सतः). Param, afterwards, is the time after the utterance, when the objector heard nothing.

Split: sataḥ (सतः) + param (परम्) + adarśanam (अदर्शनम्) + viṣaya-anāgamāt (विषय-अनागमात्)

sataḥ (सतः)genitive singular, neuterof a thing that exists
param (परम्)indeclinableafterwards
adarśanam (अदर्शनम्)nominative singular, neuternon-seeing, a failure to perceive
viṣaya-anāgamāt (विषय-अनागमात्)ablative singular, masculinebecause the object, the manifesting condition, has not arrived

The phrases

This answers the claim that the word perishes because it is not heard afterwards. Something can exist and still not be perceived.

Hearing depends on conditions that manifest the word, the contacts that carry it to the ear. When those have not arrived, there is non-seeing. The silence is the absence of the manifesting condition, not a report that the word has gone out of existence.

Sanskrit in this line

The pāṭha (पाठ) writes paramadarśanam (परमदर्शनम्) as one string. The line is param adarśanam (अदर्शनम्), afterwards a non-seeing. Anāgama (अनागम) is the non-arrival of the viṣaya (विषय).

Say it back

Be able to say why silence after speech does not show that the word has perished.
