Where it sits
Param is the account that keeps the meaning, against the fixed-order argument of 1.2.32. Aviruddham says that account does not clash with a use one can see. The meaningful mantra of 1.2.40 is still the subject.
Split: aviruddham (अविरुद्धम्) + param (परम्)
Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| aviruddham (अविरुद्धम्) | nominative singular, neuter | uncontradicted |
| param (परम्) | nominative singular, neuter | the other, the further account |
The phrases
The fixed order of words was said to be pointless if the mantra conveys a meaning. Let the restriction lack a seen purpose. A seen help is not thereby made into a non-means.
An unseen result of the fixed utterance can be supposed on the meaning side as well. That further account is aviruddha. Nothing in it fights the conveying of the meaning. Uttered so that the meaning is understood, the mantra is a thing that brings the good.
Sanskrit in this line
Aviruddha is the negation of viruddha, opposed. Param is the other position, neuter, agreeing with the unspoken account.
Say it back
Say that a fixed word order does not cancel the meaning.
