1.2.6
Mīmāṃsā Sūtra / Adhyāya 1 / 1.2.6
अनित्यसंयोगात्
anityasaṃyogāt
The line
Because of a non-eternal connection.
नेपालीमा
अनित्य सम्बन्धका कारण।
Where it sits
This is the last reason in the opening charge. Saṃyoga (संयोग) is the connection of these sentences with a perishable person, the connection 1.1.31 had already handled. The sentences called useless are still the subject.
Split: anitya-saṃyogāt (अनित्य-संयोगात्)

The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| anitya-saṃyogāt (अनित्य-संयोगात्) | ablative singular, masculine | because of a non-eternal connection |
The phrases
The connection with a man, the one used to call the Veda non-eternal, was already answered. A name in the text was only sacred wording of the ordinary kind.
The objector brings it back as a support under the sentences now under attack. Babara Prāvāhaṇi (प्रावाहणि) desired. A sentence that tells one man's wish looks tied to a life that began and ended. That tie is the anitya connection. It is offered again as a reason for calling such sentences unreliable.
Sanskrit in this line
Anitya-saṃyoga (अनित्य-संयोग) is a connection that has a beginning. The same compound returns at 1.2.39, there aimed at mantras.
Say it back
Close the objection: a sentence about what a named man desired is being used again to date the text.

1.2.7. The narrative forms one sentence with the injunction, and its purpose is praise.
