And because of the original and the modification.

नेपालीमा

अनि प्रकृति र विकृतिका कारण।

Where it sits

Ca continues the objector's list. The word is still the thing said to be non-eternal. The pair will be answered by saying that another phoneme is not a modification.

prakṛti-vikṛtyoḥ (प्रकृति-विकृत्योः)genitive dual, feminineof the original and the modification

The phrases

Take dadhi atra, the curd, here. In continuous speech it is said dadhy atra. Teachers call the vowel i the original and the consonant y the modification.

What undergoes modification is, on this view, non-eternal. The likeness of y to i is offered as the sign that one has changed into the other.

Sanskrit in this line

The two stems are one dvandva in the genitive dual. The pāṭha (पाठ) leaves a space in prakṛti (प्रकृति) vikṛtyoḥ (विकृत्योः). The line is the single compound prakṛtivikṛtyoḥ (प्रकृतिविकृत्योः).

Say it back

Remember the pair from sandhi: i as original, y as modification.
