Where it sits

tad is the class-form of 1.3.33. prayogasya is the sprinkling, the fee, and the substitute named in 1.3.34. avibhāgaḥ (अविभागः) refuses a second meaning. The word stays a word for the form, and the act reaches the bearer.

The phrases

The word denotes the class-form. The performance is aimed at the individual that bears that form. The use of the word does not split into two meanings.

Sprinkling is heard as to be done to a substance, the one that helps the offering. The rice-word denotes the form and thereby marks which substance is sprinkled. Once the form is known, it distinguishes the thing sprinkled.

Six cows are the fee. The number applies to the fee as a substance. Cows marks that substance by the form. Another joins a substitute to the animal that was lost. Animal still denotes the form, and the form distinguishes the substitute. go and aśva (अश्व) and words of that kind denote the class-form.

Sanskrit in this line

prayogasya plus avibhāgaḥ (अविभागः) is heard as prayogasyāvibhāgaḥ (प्रयोगस्याविभागः). The ā (आ) is a plus a. tadarthatvāt (तदर्थत्वात्) does not lose its t, because prayogasya begins with a consonant.

Say it back

Say that the word means the form, and that sprinkling, the six cows, and the substitute all reach the bearer of that form.
