The line

And the fruit is made of the conditions, and the conditions are not made of themselves. How is that fruit, which comes from what is not self-made, made of the conditions?

Where it sits

Verse 1.12 was the escape 'it comes from them without being in them.' Verse 1.13 takes the other escape, 'it is made of them,' and finds the ingredients themselves unmade. Verse 1.14 is the chapter's conclusion.

Split: phalam (फलम्) + ca (च) + pratyaya-mayam (प्रत्यय-मयम्) + pratyayāḥ (प्रत्ययाः) + ca (च) + asvayaṃ-mayāḥ (अस्वयं-मयाः) + phalam (फलम्) + asvayaṃ-mayebhyaḥ (अस्वयं-मयेभ्यः) + yat (यत्) + tat (तत्) + pratyaya-mayam (प्रत्यय-मयम्) + katham (कथम्)

The phrases

If the fruit is made of the conditions, it is made of what the second quarter says the conditions are: not self-made. A thing made of what is not self-made does not get to be called pratyayamaya (प्रत्ययमय) as if the conditions were solid ingredients.

The file joins pratyayāścāsvayaṃmayāḥ (प्रत्ययाश्चास्वयंमयाः) and writes asvamayebhyo (अस्वमयेभ्यो). Teach asvayaṃmayebhyaḥ (अस्वयंमयेभ्यः). The dropped yaṃ (यं) is the svayam (स्वयम्).

Sanskrit in this line

-maya (-मय) is a suffix, 'made of, consisting of.' a-svayaṃ-maya (अ-स्वयं-मय) is the negation: not consisting of itself. The ablative -ebhyaḥ (-एभ्यः) is 'from' those.
